Spotify Adds Shared Volume Control To Group Listening

The company said today that Spotify adds new capacity known as shared volume control. This new feature will allow listeners to alter the volume of a song if they are sharing a suitable speaker with the host. This is part of Spotify’s effort to improve its shared-queue function known as Group Session.

Group Session is a feature that was initially released in 2020 and is only available to Premium users. It gives several users the ability to take real-time control of the music that is being played and to contribute songs to a shared playlist that can be enjoyed by the whole group.

Spotify informs customers that the ability to control the volume will be deactivated automatically during group sessions with four or more participants. This guarantees that the host maintains control even during larger listening sessions, which may come in handy when party guests get a little too rambunctious for their own good.

However, the host has the ability to re-enable volume control once it has been disabled by manually toggling the button that states “Let guests change volume.”

The new shared volume control feature is making its way gradually to mobile devices running Android and iOS all across the world. It can be streamed using Chromecast, Amazon Cast, and the vast majority of WiFi-enabled speakers, including those made by Bose and Sonos. Unfortunately, Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth devices do not enable shared volume control at this time.

Spotify adds shared volume control, in addition, the upgrade can only be utilized for listening in-person at this time. Users often have the option to use Group Session either remotely or in person, both of which are supported.
