Chuck Schumer, the majority leader of the United States Senate, commended the agreements on Friday and stated that he would continue to strive to strengthen and expand on those commitments. Schumer has previously advocated for “comprehensive legislation” to promote and maintain protections on artificial intelligence.

According to the White House, the administration of Vice President Joe Biden pledged to work toward the establishment of an international framework to control the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI).

A bill that would force political commercials to reveal whether or not artificial intelligence was used to create visuals or other content is now being considered by Congress.

On Friday, President Joe Biden will be receiving CEOs from seven different companies at the White House. In addition, President Biden is trying to produce both an executive order and bipartisan legislation on the topic of artificial intelligence technology.

As part of the initiative, the seven businesses have committed to establishing a system that will “watermark” all forms of information, including text, images, audios, and videos generated by AI, so that users will be aware when the technology has been utilized. This will allow consumers to identify when the technology has been implemented.

This watermark, which is technically integrated in the video, will allegedly make it easier for users to identify deep-fake photos or audios. These deep-fake images or audios may, for instance, represent violence that has not occurred, create a better fraud, or distort a photo of a politician to place the person in a less favorable light.

It is not apparent how the watermark will be discernible when the information is shared with others.

The businesses have also committed to putting an emphasis on safeguarding the privacy of their customers as AI continues to advance, as well as ensuring that the technology is unbiased and is not exploited to discriminate against marginalized populations. Other promises include the use of artificial intelligence to the solving of scientific challenges, such as medical research and the reduction of the effects of climate change.
