Rivaldo believes that Ter Stegen should be next in line to get the captain’s armband when one of Messi, Pique or Busquets is gone.
The Brazilian thinks that Marc would make a great captain.

“Many argue that Marc-Andre ter Stegen might become Barcelona’s captain in the future and I totally agree. When Leo Messi, Gerard Pique or Sergio Busquets leave the club, he can take that role. He could be a great captain,” Rivaldo has told Betfair.

Ter Stegen has been one of the best and most consistent performers at Barca in the last few seasons, only behind Messi. The German put in a magnificent display in the match against Dynamo Kyiv despite it being his first game after surgery.
