Joan Laporta believes talking on the potential transfers would be disrespectful to the current squad.
He hails ‘very great players’ Mbappe and Haaland, though.
“I will not discuss the signings we want to make because it would be disrespectful to the players and the club,” Joan Laporta said at the official announcement of his presidential campaign.
When asked to choose between Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, Laporta reiterated his statement: “They are two very great players, but first, before signing I would look at who we have at home. I don’t want to destabilize the squad.”
Even though some of the presidential candidates have mentioned Haaland or Mbappe as Barca’s priority signings if elected, it’s quite an unrealistic scenario considering the Catalan club’s economic situation.
Reliable TyC Sports’ Miquel Blazquez even claimed that Dortmund’s striker Haaland is Laporta’s very own transfer target because of his friendship with player’s agent Mino Raiola.
