It looks like the media wants to paint Messi as a lazy player when he isn’t one.
Footage from the Dynamo Kyiv match showing Leo Messi unwilling to press the defenders went viral on the Internet, with both Barcelona and neutral fans lashing out at the captain for not caring or being lazy.

As you can see, Messi helped Barca stop a counter-attack when it mattered most, as it was only the 58th minute of the match and most of the defenders went into the opposite penalty box.
As for the episode that went viral, it was only 15 seconds before full time and Blaugrana actually had 10 men on their side of the pitch.
