The fans says that De Jong is Barca’s most important player after Messi.

“He has a LOT of responsibilities so yeah he may look average, but after Messi, he’s the most important player in the team, and I think he’s doing his job very well.
“Yes, he may look off sometimes but hey, even Messi, Dembele and Fati make frequent mistakes. It’s a new formation with new tactics, but he does look solid so far and will definitely improve with time.”
So far this season, De Jong has made eight appearances for Barcelona. The Dutchman has played from the start every time, completing full 90 minutes in all matches but the Getafe clash when he was subbed off after 80 minutes. Frenkie has recorded one assist this season.
