Troops of the 21 Armoured Brigade have destroyed a Boko Haram market in Bama Local Council of Borno State.

They also invaded and destroyed another market, known as ‘Daula’ and killed six terrorists manning it.

Counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, stated, yesterday, in Maiduguri: “Troops, in collaboration with the Civilian JTF, stormed an illegal market at Bararam village,” adding that the insurgents were trading in food items, including maize, beans, salt, seasoning cubes and used clothes. “Upon the sighting of troops, the terrorists opened rapid fire,” he said, but they were swiftly engaged and neutralised.

He said that the troops also arrested Boko Haram logistics suppliers and collaborators and recovered some weapons.

The suspects, Afriupdate learnt, have been handed over to the Brigade headquarters in Bama for investigation.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, yesterday, donated 39 vehicles to security agencies and traditional rulers.

While handing over the vehicles, the governor said the gesture was to enable security agencies to carry out routine operations in the state.

Sule said the state was recently notified of a possible attack by bandits, but the government acted on the information and shut down public schools across the state to curtail attacks.

His words: “Recently, we had so many covert operations by the security agencies, vigilante, our hunters and the good people of various communities helping our security agencies. We just concluded operation in Awe Local Council and we are going to commence operation in other places.
“We are going to continue to work with security agencies in most of these areas. We thank the security agencies and traditional rulers for their continued support because no operation is carried out without the knowledge of traditional rulers, religious leaders and community leaders.”

MEANWHILE, the reconciliatory committee set up by the governor to settle aggrieved aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, have summited their report.

While presenting the report, the Chairman of the committee, Hassan Liman (SAN), said the committee met with over 95 per cent of the aggrieved members and expressed hope that if the report is fully implemented, it would help the party retain power.

Receiving the report, Sule thanked the committee for the sacrifice in ensuring that all aggrieved members of the party were reached.

He promised to ensure that the recommendations in the report are implemented to the letter, urging party supporters to remain calm, as campaigns will soon kick-start.
