This online news medium contacted a source (name-withheld) concerning why some beneficiaries were paid while others are not paid their March 2020 stipend, here’s what he said;

“Yes I’m aware that there’s stipend payment irregularities due to some reasons I can not tell you”

“As for the beneficiaries that didn’t receive March allowance, they should understand that FG recently changed Npower volunteers payment platform”

“The previous NIBSS payment method has been changed that was the reason for the new inscription “FGN FEDER” contained in the credit alert that eligible beneficiaries received.

“This is a welcome development I must say, because this new method we help fish out those beneficiaries that receives double salaries from FG.

“However, I urge all beneficiaries eligible for payment that are yet to be settled to be patient as the Ministry is still reconciling beneficiaries payment accounts, once this is done, I assure you all legitimate and validated beneficiaries shall be paid.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, during his 2019 campaign pledged to sustain the ongoing war against corruption if re-elected.

It was on Buhari’s regime that all government revenues were harmonized and channeled into one account called the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

President Buhari also introduced IPPIS October 8, 2019 and vowed that any federal employee not captured on the IPPIS should forget receiving a monthly salary.

The IPPIS says it has been able to weed out ghost employees from the payroll through its technology driven processes.

Any tool that promises to curb corruption was always going to get the president’s vote.
