School Resumption: ASUU, NASU Members Protest Over Minimum WageThe Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) have begun protest in Lagos state university overpayment of the minimum wage.

Afriupdate learnt that the free flow of vehicular movement was hindered by the protesting members who gathered on Monday and prevented both students and lecturers from gaining entrance.

According to Ademola Adekoya, the spokesman of the institution all students and other staff of the university are still being locked out, including the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Fagboun.

All attempt by the Vice-Chancellor to dialogue with NLC, ASUU, NASU members was not successful, as they insist that no one will be allowed into the university premises until their demands are met by the state government.

They claimed that an increment in their salaries was promised by the Lagos State government more than a year ago and the promise was yet to be fulfilled.

This came on the heels of resumption as announced by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for tertiary institutions in the state to reopen today, Monday, September 14, 2020.

Afriupdate had earlier reported that LASU students at 300 and 400 levels were to resume on Monday 14th, September with other members of staff that had been on lockdown as a result of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
