Bordas opens up on Messi transfer saga

“He is a winner by nature and loves Barca very much. The 2-8 defeat [to Bayern] and performances in previous Champions League draws impacted him a lot. I think Messi got tired and wanted to leave,” former Barca director Javier Bordas has told Mundo Deportivo.

“As for me, his actions [regarding the release clause] were ugly and wrong, but Messi can make mistakes too. Luckily, he makes few mistakes on the pitch. Messi wanted to keep winning and thought his time at Barca was over. Now I see a spirited Leo, but he lacks a little more. I would like him to be happy,” he added.
