- The legendary French attacker rubbishes claims that Leo could be lazy, saying people forget that the players are not machines.
- He reminds that Messi played well in the extreme conditions against Bolivia last month.
“People forget that we’re not machines. I understand that you need to sell stuff and you need to tell stories, but not this guy.
“Seriously. I played with Messi, this is not the guy you need to attack,” Thierry Henry angrily said on the Que Golazo Podcast, referring to the latest criticism aimed at Leo.

Among other things, Messi has been criticised for his ‘lazy defending‘ in the dying minutes of the Dynamo Kyiv game.
Henry added on this issue: “When I see people having a go at Messi, I laugh. People forget that last month he went to play in Ecuador and then he went to play in Bolivia. You can’t even walk in Bolivia! Players coming from Europe, you’ll pass out.”
Last month, Messi completed the full 90 minutes in Argentina’s 2-1 win at Bolivia, playing at an altitude of 3,636 metres above sea level.
In total, Leo has scored 5 goals in 11 matches for both club and country since the start of the 2020-2021 campaign.
