Google is rolling out ChromeOS 117 update to Chromebooks with a variety of new features, including Material You design, a customizable window-switching interface, and the ability to join video calls directly from the calendar view.
Chromebooks will feature a Material You design that can be customized by the enterprise. After selecting a wallpaper and color pallet, these customizations will be reflected in areas such as the desktop, quick settings, and window head bars. ChromeOS 117 also includes a redesigned quick settings menu with larger icons and slider bars, similar to the drop-down settings menu on Android 13 on Pixel smartphones.
The latest update also includes a new window manager. You can rearrange windows by striking the Everything key plus Z or by hovering over the “Maximize” icon on an app window. After that, you can position applications in split, partial, and full views, or float them above a window.

ChromeOS 117 Update already provides quick access to the calendar view from the bottom bar; now, you can attend a meeting from this view with the click of a button.
Adaptive charging, which is included in the update, is said to increase battery life. You can enable adaptive charging via Settings > Device > Power > Adaptive charging. When you enable this feature, your Chromebook will charge to 80% and then use machine learning to determine your unplugging patterns to charge it to 100% slowly.
With ChromeOS 117 update, users can select shared albums from Google Photos for rotating wallpapers, search for GIFs from the emoji picker (via 9to5Google), record time-lapse videos using the webcam, and view RAM, Power, and OS version in search results on the launcher.
