Three Springbok players have been named in the 24-man Barbarians squad for Saturday’s match against Samoa.

The trio of World Cup winners includes hooker Malcolm Marx, prop Steven Kitshoff and number eight Duane Vermeulen who were all part of the side that faced England in the final Autumn Nations Series Test on Saturday.

The Barbarians will face Samoa for the Killik Cup at Twickenham. It is the only match to be played from the recently cancelled tour of Europe due to disruptions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The last time the two sides met was before the 2015 Rugby World Cup when the Barbarians emerged victorious 27-24 at London’s Olympic Stadium.

Meanwhile, Barbarian Women will take on a Springbok Women’s XV following the men’s match in what is a first-ever double “home” header for the invitational side.
