The Blues’ supporters simply got tired of having the Dane on their team. Here is why.
Firstly, Christensen reportedly refused to play for the Blues in the recent FA Cup final, leaving the team hotel at the last moment – although Thomas Tuchel did not mention his unavailability.
Secondly, the defender ruled himself out of the game against West Ham at the last moment, claiming he had stomach cramps – this also happened in spring. In 2019, his former boss Maurizio Sarri said: “You know very well that Christensen always has a stomach ache on matchdays.”
The player is often criticised for not being ‘man’ enough. In 2018, Antonio Conte revealed Christensen was struggling from mental fatigue – this didn’t sit well with Chelsea supporters either.
