11 PM GMT is the transfer deadline on Monday – no moves can be made after that.
There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks over the immediate future of Billy Gilmour, with the Scottish youngster attracting plenty of interest from several clubs.
Potential Loan
In the past week, The Telegraph’s Matt Law (very reliable source) and Daily Mail (semi-reliable) have reported that Billy Gilmour is likely to go out on loan for the rest of the season.
On Monday, Sky Sports (reliable source) and Mail Sport reported that Southampton are interested in signing the Scotsman on loan on deadline day.
Gilmour wants to stay
However, David Ornstein of The Athletic (very reliable source) has said that Gilmour is ready to reject any potential loan move in order to assess his place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Unless things take a surprising turn, Gilmour will stay at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, as per the report.
Limited game time
The midfielder has played only 34 minutes of Premier League football this season while starting a few games against lower league sides in the FA Cup and a dead rubber tie in the Champions League.
Tuchel has left out Gilmour of both his matchday squads so far – although this was reportedly due to a loan move potentially occurring (Daily Mail).
Tuchel’s opinion
On Friday, Tuchel said on Gilmour: “I have a good impression. For me, we have 21 or 22 outfield players available, playing three competitions, there is absolutely no need we have to get rid of players.”
However, Tuchel may not be the one to decide if Gilmour needs a loan, considering he’s only had a handful of sessions with the full squad.
Blues fans, do you want Billy Gilmour to stay at Chelsea this season or would a 6-month loan be good for his development?
