More than changes on the field, it’s the work behind the scenes that have made a difference.
As reported by The Athletic, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s progress at Manchester United is not just marked by the improvements on the field.
There is a lot more that went on behind the scenes – Ole got in club legends Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs to visit the players a number of times at Carrington to speak about their experiences and create a ‘family feel’.
In addition, there is a new head of data in Andrew Meredith, who ‘adds more intelligence and depth’. We then have Paul Brand in performance analysis, tasked with providing the team with information.
Richard Hawkins, head of performance, analyses the data and conveys it to the coaches and last but not least – Simon Wells is Ole’s go-to man to scout players.
The Athletic adds that these names are not often thrown about in public – and that’s how United prefer it.
Clearly, these changes are making a difference. Not bad for a ‘P.E teacher’, eh?
