- Tuchel feels Chelsea were good in the first 80 metres but not the last 20.
- Chelsea’s determination and decision making was simply not good enough today, says the boss.
- Tuchel states the structure is not the cause of the lack of goals, it comes down to the players.
- The game was there to be killed off but the Blues lacked the precision to do it.
When asked if Chelsea were good enough against Southampton, Thomas Tuchel said: “In the first 80 metres yes. In the last 20, no.
“The decision-making, the determination was simply not good enough today to create chances.
“My job is to win games, it’s not to put some expensive guys together.
“The structure is never the problem or the solution. It’s always down to the players. The structure is fluid and in different structures you find different spaces.
“You can be sure we think day and night about scoring goals and creating chances. We play up the pitch and the statistics we have high up the pitch, we don’t score enough.
“At the moment, it’s a lack of precision. Not opportunities or touches in the box. It’s down to decision making and today…I didn’t feel we killed the game when it was there to be done.”
Since Thomas Tuchel has taken over, Chelsea have scored only 8 goals in 6 league games, with Blues attackers failing to finish their chances.
