Tuchel says he likes Gilmour as a person.
The boss feels he’s humble and happy to be living his dream.
The player knows he hasn’t made it yet and is ready to work, Tuchel points out.
The German suggests Gilmour has the perfect mix of humility and impatience to improve.
“First of all, I like him as a person. For me, he represents everything a young guy from the academy should represent when he arrives in the first team,” Thomas Tuchel told reporters.
“He is humble. I feel that he’s happy to be here, that he’s living his dream. He’s ready to give everything to fulfill his dream. He gives me the impression that he doesn’t think, ‘this is the end of the road, now I’ve made it’.
“He gives me the exact right feeling, the exact perfect mix of being humble and being impatient and trying every training session to improve, to learn and not showing too much respect [to the older players].”
Billy Gilmour should be in line for his first start since Thomas Tuchel took over as Chelsea get set to play Barnsley in the FA Cup on Thursday evening.
Earlier, it was reported that Gilmour did not go out on loan in January as he had impressed Tuchel in training.
