Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side suffered a fourth straight semi-final defeat on Wednesday, losing 2-0 to rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
United, though, are making progress in the Premier League and are hot on the heels of leaders Liverpool, level on points with the champions but having a game played less. However, a break in league action sees Watford visit for the FA Cup on Saturday night.
Solskjaer may look to the transfer market to give his squad a mid-season boost, with numerous players being linked to United.

Newcastle are eyeing THREE different Manchester United players in the January window.
As well as tracking Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe, the Magpies are looking at the United trio of Brandon Williams, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones.
Young full-back Williams is expected to depart Old Trafford on loan this month to ensure his development continues, after his breakthrough campaign last season.
England internationals Lingard and Jones could be allowed to leave United on permanent transfers as they are no longer part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans.
According to 90min, Steve Bruce has yet to decide which of these three Manchester United players to pursue.
What is going on with Donny van de Beek?
That’s what former Man United striker Dimitar Berbatov wants to know, who thinks it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he asks to leave.
The midfielder joined the club last summer to much fanfare, but has found starting places hard to come by.
“I don’t watch the training sessions and the little time he does get on the pitch isn’t enough to judge him,” Berbatov told Betfair.
“He needs a run of games in a row to give him confidence. I can see that his confidence isn’t high at the moment, and that’s normal because when you don’t play you start punishing yourself and ask questions of yourself.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he is starting to look for the exit and nobody will blame him. Something isn’t working.
“At the moment Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Fred are all ahead of him, judging by the amount of game time he is getting. Are all these players better than him? I don’t think so, everybody is different and everyone can bring different qualities to a game. That’s why I’m wondering what is going on.
