The issue was the reason behind taking Timo off against Sheffield United, but it does not appear to be a big problem.
“It was from winning the penalty,” Timo Werner told Sky Sports when asked to explain why his left leg was strapped up after the game.
“It’s a dead leg. The 10-15 minutes after [the penalty collision] was hard so I told the manager he should take me off because it was a tight game. It’s better to have 11 fit players on the pitch than 10.5.”
Werner was outstanding against Sheffield United, setting up Mount’s goal and earning the penalty to win the match.
The issue does not appear to be too serious which means he’s likely to feature against Newcastle in a week.
