Manchester United often give young strikers a chance. Most recently, Mason Greenwood has broken through with devastating effect. While Marcus Rashford has been outstanding ever since his debut.

But the supply line does not stop there.

Here are three teenage forwards who could well break into the Red Devil’s side in the future.

Joe Hugill

United went full throttle last summer signing a whole host of young talent. One of those was Joe Hugill, who arrived from Sunderland for £300,000 (MEN).

Already promoted from the U18s to the U23s, 17-year-old Hugill has four goals in 12 appearances for the second string.

With a further six goals in just four U18 games, the teenager looks like an absolute steal.

A rangy centre-forward who could offer United something different, do not be surprised if he gets a call-up sooner rather than later.

Anthony Elanga

United often use wide forwards and Anthony Elanga could be next in line.

The 18-year-old started the season on the left wing, but he has now moved into a central role.

Last season, playing almost predominantly on the left, Elanga scored seven goals in 18 games. This time round, rotating between the wing and as a centre-forward, already has six goals and three assists.

The Swede’s versatility and goal-scoring prowess mark him out as one to watch.

Charlie McNeill

United signed Charlie McNeill back from Manchester City for a fee that could rise to 1.35million (MEN). And that already looks an absolute bargain.

If there is one player in United’s ranks who knows where the goal is, it’s McNeill.

The 17-year-old has six goals in eight U18 outings including a brace against Leeds and one against Liverpool.

In time, he could well be scoring against the same teams in the Premier League. Talk of exactly how many goals McNeill has scored as a youth are the stuff of fantasy.

He is a wonder-kid in the truest sense of the word and the future looks very bright.
