United say that nothing will change the fact that Ighalo was the first Nigerian to play for the club.
In an official confirmation of Odion Ighalo’s departure, Man United wrote on Twitter: “@Ighalojude lived his boyhood dream.
“He pulled on the famous red shirt. He scored at in front of a packed Old Trafford. He was the first Nigerian to represent the club. Nothing will ever change that. Thank you and good luck, Odion — you’ll always be a Red.”
Ighalo’s loan deal was initially set to expire at the end of January, but it seems it was cut short in order for him to return to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua immediately.
The Nigerian made 23 appearances and scored 5 goals for the Red Devils. He also about how proud he is for having played for the club in his own farewell tribute.
