Real Madrid have made a bunch of prospect signings in the last few weeks. They recently signed a couple of players from Atletico Madrid’s academy. A little before that, they signed Noel Lopez, a very talented striker from Deportivo La Coruna.
Now, it seems like they’re close to completing another signing. Not the signing we hope to see, but a signing nonetheless.
According to a report from MARCA, Real Madrid are very close to signing Alvaro Leiva. In fact, he is just one step away from being a Madrid player, the report says. He’s going to be registered with the Castilla team, but my word, Castilla are looking so, so interesting next season.
Apparently, something along the lines of “improper alignment” happened in a game between Algeciras and Castilla, which postponed the completion of the deal. But it is set to be completed very soon.
What makes this a lot sweeter is the fact that the player turned down Barcelona.

I am very sure that you all have read those Pedri quotes about Real Madrid rejecting him and about him choosing to sign for Barca, making it the best decision of his career and all that? Yeah, it’s annoying, isn’t it? The man says it in every single interview, like, stop, right?
Well, I think Barcelona’s youth system isn’t what it used to be like anymore. Players are choosing Real’s academy over signing for Barcelona.
Well, granted, I don’t really know a lot about the player, but it does seem like an interesting purchase. Leiva is a right-footed winger that can also play as a second striker. I do think that Real Madrid Castilla needed a left-winger, since the right is sorted with Peter Federico.
But, the left wing has Oscar Aranda, and I think he is a decent player, but he’s just not going to be considered for the first team, you know? Like, he doesn’t have that deciding factor. I do think Leiva is different, judging by the clips I have seen.
Well, I hope he is better, because if he is able to gel with the team and score and assist goals, Raul will turn him into an absolute weapon, which would make Castilla so interesting to watch next season, if they weren’t already.
