Solskjaer hints at THREE stars that will continue to start Man Utd games

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested he will continue to start Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire as he prepares his team to face Wolves tonight.

Manchester United host Wolverhampton at Old Trafford looking to stretch their unbeaten Premier League run to nine games and go second in the table with a win.

Solskjaer suggested he use the depth of his squad against Wolves, given the quick turnaround in games after United’s 2-2 draw at Leicester on Boxing Day. But he also hinted that some players are too important to rest given the need for points right now.

“Of course they have to be rested at certain points but then again we need points and we need to play strong teams and build on things,” Solskjaer told United’s official website.

“Even playing through when you’re a bit tired does develop you and improve you. If you see the best teams then they don’t rotate that much, the best players don’t rotate that much.

“But the Premier League is a different animal to other leagues and we do have a demanding style of play as well. It’s fast, attacking football – we want them to go quickly. It’s not walking tempo football that we demand.

“And if it’s 60 minutes full tilt then another one can do 30 because we have a big and strong bench as well.”

Solskjaer’s rotation may be minimal as he suggested United had a slight advantage over Wolves, having had more rest. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side drew 1-1 with Tottenham on December 27th so could be affected by fatigue.

Asked whether he now had more options in his squad, Solskjaer added: “Definitely. We’ve gotten used to it and I think the players are getting more and more robust and physically ready for games, with only two days rest in between.

“Of course we’ve got about 30 hours more than Wolverhampton to recover so we have a slight advantage in that respect, and hopefully we can make use of those extra calories of energy we’ve got.”
