Dortmund’s new wonderkid scored 141 times in 88 youth matches before becoming the youngest ever Bundesliga debutant.
Last week, Samuel Eto’o advised Barcelona to sign Borussia Dortmund’s new wonderkid striker Youssoufa Moukoko to prepare for the post-Messi future.
Here’s everything you need to know about the 16-year-old:
- Mind-blowing numbers: Moukoko scored 141 times in 88 youth matches since 2017.
- Rulebreaker: Youssufa’s emphatic rise forced the German Football League to lower the minimum age for players in the top divisions from 17 to 16.
- In history books already: 2 weeks ago, the teenager was subbed on the 5-2 Hertha win and became Bundesliga’s youngest ever player, aged 16 years and 1 day.
- Age controversy: Moukoko was accused of lying about his age after his staggering displays, so his father had to point out his son’s birth certificate to prove doubters wrong.
- 2nd Dembele: Just like Ousmane, Moukoko is a left-footer and a right-footer, as his coach Lucien Favre has noted.
- Huge targets set: At the age of 13, Youssufa revealed his goals: to become a professional player for Dortmund, win the Champions League and claim the Ballon d’Or.
- From 1 wonderkid to another: Erling Haaland, once a target for Barca described his teammate as ‘the biggest talent in the world right now’.
