Top 5 candidates:

2. Robert Lewandowski 2/1

3. Karim Benzema 25/1

4. Mohamed Salah 25/1

5. Jorginho 33/1

In case you’re not an expert when it comes to fractional odds, the first number is the return you’ll get if you invest the second number. To use the same example, for every €11 you bet on Messi to win, you’ll get €4 if he actually does. Since this is the lowest return, the Argentine is considered the favourite.

Leo could win his seventh Ballon d’Or this year. Currently, he is the only player to have won it more than five times, as his nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo stands at five.
