Ralf Rangnick reacts to Soton draw

After the 1-1 draw with Southampton at Old Trafford, Ralf Rangnick told BT Sport: “We created, scored a great goal. Then we stopped doing that; at the end of the first half we didn’t do those things anymore and then in the second we lost a bit of shape.
“Unfortunately, it was very similar to the last couple of games.

“A very good first half, very good first half hour. We did all the things we intended to do with the counter attacks and the deep runs.”

The Manchester United boss continued: “In the first 20 minutes [of the first-half] we were struggling to defend, that happened in transition when they scored their goal.

“In the last 20 minutes, we had big chances to score again, expected goals was in our favour but we didn’t get the result.

“Today we had an xG of 2.57 to 0.57 for Southampton — It’s not a question of not creating chances, it’s a question of not being effective enough.

“It was very similar to previous games unfortunately. It is the fourth game where we were ahead but took one point instead of three. It is difficult to take but we have to accept it.”

United once again let a lead slip away at home and had to settle for sharing the points with the visitors.
