- Farre believes that Barca should offer Messi an open contract so he can leave when he wants.
- However, after his retirement, Farre wants Leo to become a club ambassador or honorary president.
- The presidential candidate says he’ll start negotiations with Messi’s contract even before the elections.
“I think we have to have an open contract so that Leo Messi can decide when he retires at any moment,” presidential candidate Jordi Farre has told TyC Sports. (h/t Diario Sport)
“We’d be delighted if he asks to have a year playing for Newell’s and then come back and never leave Barcelona. It’s important to be grateful in life.

Messi’s current contract expires next summer, meaning that he is free to sign a pre-agreement with a new club already in January. However, with a new president due to take charge, there’s a possibility that the Argentine decides to sign a new deal and stay at Barca.
