The 17-year-old says Koeman’s advice served him as a motivation to keep improving.
Eventually, the midfielder has managed to prove his worth, scoring twice in 10 games.

“That news gave me the strength to show that I can be here, that I can do things at the best team in the world. I tried very hard,” Pedri told La Vanguardia, referring to Ronald Koeman’s advice to leave on loan.

On the Dutch coach, the youngster added: “From day one he was very correct and very clear with me. He told me that I had to improve my physique and that I need to show him where I’m capable of.”

Before the 2020-2021 campaign started, Koeman reportedly wanted Pedri, Carles Alena and Riqui Puig to leave on loan to get more opportunities.

Pedri is the only one out of this trio to play prominently this season, registering 2 goals in 10 games for Barca.
