“On my first day with Leo Messi at the training centre, he came and greeted me with a ‘welcome to Barcelona’. For me, it was like opening a Christmas present,” Pedri has told Mundo Deportivo.
“I said thank you and that I was very excited. Going from watching him on television to having him in front of you and working with him is very impressive.

“I was a bit timid in front of Messi at first. But after a while, you see he’s just a normal guy and he’s now like a friend in our dressing room.”
Pedri joined Barcelona from Las Palmas back in the summer. However, he had to wait for a while to meet Messi as Leo skipped the first week of pre-season because he was trying to leave the club.
