No Messi: squad list for Betis revealed

  • Apparently, the Argentinean hasn’t recovered yet from the calf injury.
  • Dembele, Suarez and Neto are also out injured.
  • Alena is not included either.
  • Juvenil A player Ansu Fati is included, though.

Now it is official: Lionel Messi will NOT play against Real Betis. FC Barcelona have just published the squad list for Sunday’s game and the Argentinean is not included.

No Messi: squad list for Betis revealed

Messi suffered a disappointing calf injury on August 5 and hasn’t yet featured for the Catalans this season. He resumed training with the group on Wednesday’s evening but hasn’t been involved in the final training this Saturday.

Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Neto are all out with their respective injuries.

Another staggering absentee is Carles Alena who started against Athletic Bilbao. Perhaps, his snub is merely a technical decision to make room for three Barca B starlets.

Three youngsters have made the squad: Inaki Pena, Carles Perez and Ansu Fati. Perez is expected to feature up front following his impressive brace against Vissel Kobe last month.
