Mikel Arteta has signed a deal with Arsenal until the summer of 2023 after finally becoming the club’s long-term replacement for Unai Emery.
Arteta had spent the last three years as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, with the Blues reluctantly willing to let the Spaniard leave.
The 37-year-old played for Arsenal from 2011 to 2016 before retiring and he has since gained a strong coaching reputation from his time at City.
Now he will need to prove his worth as the head coach at the Emirates as he bids to overhaul the squad. Part of that process will come in the January transfer window when the Spaniard plans to bring in some top talent.

The big question shortly will be which players will Arteta sign in the upcoming January transfer window?
Arsenal have been linked with an array of players ahead of next month and if the latest betting odds are to go by, fans are in store for plenty of speculation in the coming weeks.
The likes of Napoli star Dries Mertens and former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can are the shortest odds. Former Man City young gun turned Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho has also been linked, along with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, who was associated with Arsenal rumours aplenty in the summer.
Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich), Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich), Timo Werner (RB Leipzig), Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) and Erling Braut Haaland (Red Bull Salzburg) are the rest of the players linked by BetVictor.
