Messi reveals that he isn’t concerned with individual awards.
Leo says Barcelona will fight for the league title after missing out on it the last term.
The Argentine claims he never expected to win the Pichichi Trophy for a record seven times.
“Winning another Pichichi Trophy? I don’t know, I’m not really thinking about it. It’s not something that worries me. I would prefer to win La Liga again, something which we didn’t do last season, rather than winning the Pichichi, so we will fight for that,” Leo Messi has told Marca after being handed the award for the best goalscorer in La Liga last summer.
“Winning seven Pichichis? The truth is that I would have never imagined that I would win so many and surpass [Telmo] Zarra’s record. It is a very joyful feeling,” he added.
Last term, Messi recorded 25 goals in 33 La Liga games for Barcelona. He also added in a whopping 21 assists.
This season, Leo has got six goals in 13 league matches. Villarreal’s Gerard Moreno currently leads the goalscoring chart with eight goals.
