Lionel Messi asked Barcelona to sign Sadio Mane as a condition of staying at the club, SER Catalunya report.
The Argentine is said to rate the Senegalese forward highly. Messi even voted for the winger in the FIFA The Best award in 2019.
Earlier, it was reported that Messi also asked Barca to sign centre-back Cristian Romero who currently plays for Tottenham Hotspur.
Messi unwillingly left the club as a free agent in 2021. The year before, the Argentine announced his desire to leave, but Josep Maria Bartomeu forced the player to stay.
As for Sadio Mane, the 29-year-old has just become the Africa Cup of Nations winner. He has scored 107 goals and provided 44 assists in 244 appearances for Liverpool so far.
