Manchester United player wants Old Trafford return

The Manchester United player appears to be targeting an Old Trafford return in the near future as he wants to show the fans his true abilities.

With Manchester United flying high at the moment and transfer rumours still continuing to swirl around the club, it is easy to forget the amount of talent that they have out of loan.

One of those players is Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese right-back made a solitary appearance in the League Cup for the Red Devils this season before joining AC Milan on loan. And while he has earned plaudits there for some of his performances, he is still far from being a first-team regular.

With his future at San Siro up in the air at the moment, it looks like the player is more than open to returning to Old Trafford at the end of the season if things don’t end up working out for him in Italy. As reported by Portuguese outlet Record and as cited by Sport Witness, when asked about it, he said:

“Of course, the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn’t have the time I liked physically. I spent great moments at United. I played very important games for me and the team.

“I left with a bit of a bittersweet feeling for not being physically available for all those games I lost due to injury. But it is what it is. I wouldn’t change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now. I don’t regret it or look back with disappointment.”

Dalot has been heavily used by AC Milan in the Europa League. In fact, he has played every minute of their group stage matches, scoring once and assisting two through the course of them. But the picture is very different in the league.

He has just made 5 appearances in the Serie A, playing a combined 199 minutes of football there. And in those matches, he is yet to record a goal contribution. Without a buyout clause in his contract, it is likely that the Italian side will want to see a lot more from him before discussing any permanent deal with United.

Thus, his future might very well lie at Old Trafford. And to be honest, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah looking set to leave the club, they could do with some back-up to Aaron Wan-Bissaka. At this point of time, that is all the Portuguese right-back can expect to be though.
