Manchester United are keeping a keen eye on Norwich City defender Max Aarons, according to reports.
Despite spending upwards of £140million on defenders over the last two years, United remain short on options at right-back position with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the only senior player in the position.
Brandon Williams is actually right-footed but tends to be deployed at left-back, while other fill-ins Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are natural centre-backs.
With Wan-Bissaka’s recent time on the sidelines proving how important he is to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United have begun to be linked with a number of full-backs ahead of the January transfer window.
The latest, according to the Mirror, is Norwich’s Aarons, who played a vital role in the Canaries’ promotion charge in 2019 and impressed in the Premier League despite their relegation.
Barcelona were heavily linked with the 20-year-old in the summer, but they eventually signed Sergino Dest from Ajax instead.
Aarons has continued his good form this season, with Norwich sat top of the Championship, which has enticed United to ‘keep close tabs’ on the attacking full-back.
However, the report adds, that Aarons is likely to be seen as a long-term target and the club may wait until the summer before making a move.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey has prompted talk of a United transfer by joining UK-based agency Unique Sports Management.
It’s claimed in the Daily Mail that United, Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal are all keen on the 23-year-old, who has impressed in the Bundesliga. USM also represent United’s Wan-Bissaka.
United have been looking to add a new winger to their squad in the form of Jadon Sancho but have failed to do so, with Bailey one of several alternatives to be touted.
