Declan Rice appears to have made a decision regarding his future with both Manchester United and Chelsea interested in signing him.
Through one of his latest press conferences, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already warned the club supporters not to have high hopes up in terms of impending January transfers. Solskjaer believes it will be a quiet winter transfer window for the Red Devils.
As such, it will mark yet another transfer window where United fail in signing a central defensive midfielder. Unless you live under a rock, perhaps the prolonged rumours of them being interested in West Ham United’s Declan Rice have come to your attention.
United have been reportedly monitoring the former Chelsea youth prospect for several years now. Having released Rice at the age of fourteen, The Blues are firmly considering re-attaining the midfielder’s services sooner rather than later.
Rice is familiar with the facilities Chelsea offer, as he spent eight years in their junior academy. And the general indication is that the West Ham star remains settled on pursuing his career in London.
Desperate for some trophies and Champions League football, Rice is understood to be looking forward to moving away from The Hammers next summer.
On top of that, a report from Mirror believes that the 21-year-old midfielder has told his friend about his potential destination, suggesting that he won’t be joining Manchester United.
As published by the English outlet, a source close to the current West Ham star said:
“Dec has been flattered by interest in him but he doesn’t see himself moving to Manchester. It’s obvious where he’d like his next move to be.”
The England international has made 17 appearances in the Premier League this season, helping the London-based club taste a sweet run of form lately.
Even in The Hammers are successful in securing European football for next season, it is unlikely that Rice will be staying put. Chelsea would be his preferred option then, as both parties are seemingly very optimistic about the imminent switch as the Red Devils look set to miss out on the England international.
