Koeman says that suffering a stroke made him look at things differently.
The Dutchman believes that it was the right time for him to accept Barca’s offer.
Ronald doesn’t want to still be coaching when he’s 70 years old.
“When things like that happen, or when people close to you get sick, then life does change. In my case, I had a small stroke and it does make you think about things differently,” Ronald Koeman said on him being hospitalized back in May, as quoted by Marca.
“Perhaps managing Barcelona became a case of now or never.
“I have already been coaching for several years and I don’t want to still be coaching football when I’m 70. This was the right time.”
Dutch outlet Ziggo Sport reported back in May that Ronald Koeman had to be hospitalized in Amsterdam with a heart problem. Thankfully, the doctors were able to intervene soon and save his life.
Back then, Koeman was still coaching the Dutch national team. He came to replace Quique Setien as Barcelona’s coach in August 2020.
