Manchester United have been linked with Bruno Fernandes in this winter’s transfer window and it will be intriguing to see if they can get the deal done this month.

If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils have started talking with Sporting CP again and this time, they might finally close the signing of the Portuguese international.

According to Plataforma, the Lions wanted a fee of 70 million euros (60 million euros fixed plus 10 million euros in bonuses) but United’s offer never exceeded the mark of 60 million euros (50 million euros fixed plus 10 million in bonuses).

Goncalo Lopes claims that the deal was close to falling apart but things have changed mainly due to the injury of Marcus Rashford, which has led Man Utd to look at Fernandes again to strengthen their attack.

Now, it has been reported that Man Utd are willing to raise the offer to 55 million euros (plus bonuses) in order to finally close the signing. As per Plataforma, the offer should be enough to get the deal done.

A similar sort of report has been covered by O Jogo today. The renowned Portuguese source have claimed that United have raised their offer by 5 million euros.

In the Premier League, the Old Trafford outfit are already 30 points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand. Moreover, Solksjaer’s men are still 5 points behind Chelsea, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Tonight, Sporting will face Braga in the Allianz Cup, a competition in which skipper Bruno Fernandes directly contributed in 4 goals in as many starts to help his team lift the trophy last season.

Will the attacking midfielder take part in the contest tonight? O Jogo reports that he will play. Will he be able to finally move to Manchester United before the end of the transfer deadline? Only time will tell.
