Recent reports in Italy indicate that the Old Trafford club are intent on signing Matthijs de Ligt, whose future in Italy remains uncertain.

On 8th June, Corriere dello Sport reported that the Red Devils are prepared to take advantage of the defender’s current situation at Juventus.
On 10th June, the Italian media outlet covered another story and revealed that Man United have moved in with an offer to sign the 22-year-old center-half from the Old Lady.
More recently, CdS have reported (press image provided below) that Man Utd have launched an attack to lure De Ligt, who is also wanted by other top European clubs, and Juventus are seriously concerned.
De Ligt currently earns (Calcio Mercato) around 12 million euros per season (£200,000-a-week). The Bianconeri are trying to agree a new deal with the former Ajax skipper but the talks have stalled.
Juve are worried as the threat of losing their star defender this summer is becoming more and more serious.
De Ligt rose to fame under Ten Hag and the coach’s presence at Old Trafford could be tempting for the youngster. However, Corriere dello Sport claim that due to the lack of Champions League football next season, Man Utd is not a very appealing destination.
Juventus won nine Serie A titles in a row but in the last two seasons, they have only earned the final CL qualification spot. The Dutch defender is not happy with the progress and might leave.
Unfortunately, Man Utd have not been able to progress since the retirement of Alex Ferguson in 2013. We have not won a single title in the past 5 seasons. Can Ten Hag can somehow convince Matthijs de Ligt to join the club? We shall see.
