According to Pete O’Rourke, Manchester United could pursue Napoli and Nigeria attacker Victor Osimhen this summer.

According to reports in Italy, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are interested in signing the £100 million players this summer.

What is the most recent news about Manchester United?

According to rumors, Cristiano Ronaldo has told United that he wants to leave the club this summer to show greater ambition for the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag will now be looking for another striker in case the Portugal legend gets his wish and leaves Old Trafford this summer.

This may come as a surprise to ten Hag, since finding a striker was not on his list of objectives for the club this summer, with the club now focusing on reshuffling their backline, with a move for Lisandro Martnez being pursued.
But a move for Osimhen could be on the cards this summer, however, the club will have to compete with Bayern Munich, who are dealing with their own striker dilemma this summer, with Poland striker Robert Lewandowski wanting to leave the Allianz Arena.
And O’Rourke believes the Red Devils will be able to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

What did O’Rourke have to say about Osimhen?

“I think Manchester United might go out there and acquire him [Osimhen],” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“I believe it would send a message to the rest of Europe that they are mixing it up and attempting to sign the best available players.”

Would Osimhen be a decent addition to Manchester United’s squad?

The addition of Osimhen would significantly boost Manchester United fans heading into the Premier League season, as the 6 foot 1 striker has a proven record in one of Europe’s premier leagues, Serie A.

According to Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old Nigeria international appeared in 32 games for Napoli last season, scoring 18 goals and giving six assists.
According to FBref, Osimhen’s goal rate last season was quite similar to Ronaldo’s, with the Napoli forward scoring at a rate of 0.64 goals per 90 minutes, while the United player managed a rate of 0.65.

According to the same stats provider, the Nigerian striker is also likely to match his teammates’ running rate compared to Ronaldo, with Osimhen attempting 308 pressures in Serie A last season, compared to the Portuguese’s 182.

While there is no doubt that Ronaldo will be remembered as one of the greatest footballers of all time, it may be time for United to invest in some younger blood up front, with ten Hag overseeing a thorough rebuild ahead of what Manchester United supporters hope will be a prosperous period for the club.
