If the summer rumours are to be believed, Ousmane Dembele was the key to Neymar’s Barca return. However, the 22-year-old refused to enter a swap deal for the Brazilian.
According to a report from French outlet L’Equipe, the reason behind Ousmane’s refusal of Paris Saint-Germain is the fact that he sees Barcelona as the club of his dreams and has no plans to leave.
“No matter who comes, the competition does not scare me and I will fight to impose myself here,” the France international reportedly told his entourage.
Moreover, Dembele is determined to work hard in order to achieve one of his biggest dreams: win the Ballon d’Or.
For now, however, the player is unavailable with yet another injury. It is expected that Ousmane will be out at least until the end of the month.
As a reminder, the player suffered pain during the La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao and was spotted rubbing his left leg. The club allegedly scheduled a medical check-up for the player, but he left on holiday instead. Dembele’s bad attitude to his own health and his frequent injuries are believed to be among the reasons the Catalans tried to include him in a swap deal for Neymar.
Reportedly, Barca’s final offer for the 27-year-old included Todibo, Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele (on loan) plus €130m.
