Arsenal return to Premier League action on Sunday off the back of a dominant 3-0 win against Dundalk on Thursday evening.

The Irish outfit were brushed aside in the Europa League group stage match with goals from Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock and Nicolas Pepe sealing the result.

With the January transfer window quickly approaching, now is the time when clubs across the country will be preparing to make one or two quality additions to see them through until the summer.

Here is the latest Arsenal transfer gossip currently making the headlines.

Arteta eyes Aouar alternative

The north London club are still said to be interested in Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and will consider moving for the 22-year-old in January.

However, they have taken steps to identify a backup plan to improve their midfield if they miss out on the Frenchman.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the club are closely watching Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai, with the 20-year-old having created four goals in just five matches in Austria’s top flight.

He is being considered as a cheaper alternative to Aouar and is said to be ‘in love with the Premier League’, which could work in Arsenal’s favour once the new year arrives.

He said: “I played over 80 games there and had a good, intense time there.
