Las Vegas police had 'enough evidence to arrest and charge' Ronaldo for rape

In a court transcript obtained by The Sun, it’s revealed that Las Vegas police had ‘enough evidence’ to ‘arrest and charge’ Cristiano Ronaldo for raping Kathryn Mayorga in 2009.
However, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson urged the detectives pursuing the case to drop the matter. And that’s not all – he also refused to prosecute the case.

In the transcript, Mayorga’s lawyer Leslie Mark Stovall said: “What happened is when that [arrest warrant] was submitted to the district attorney’s office, Mr. Wolfson declined to prosecute.

“He doesn’t say why he decided to decline and anything – any argument is just speculation. It was within the statute of limitations.

“The police believed that they had a case to prosecute for one count of sexual assault and the DA decided not to.”

The Manchester United forward has been accused of raping Mayorga in a Las Vegas hotel room after the duo were spotted partying in a night club.

While Ronaldo has claimed that the sex was ‘consensual’, he did pay £276,000 as ‘hush money’ to Mayorga’s representatives at the time.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s lawyers are desperately trying to prevent more documents or transcripts from being leaked.
