With 642 goals, Messi is the player with the second-most goals scored for a single team, only behind Pele.
Koeman says that Messi is the best in the world because how effective he is on the pitch.
The coach claims that Barca’s attack depends on Leo.
Durring the press conference ahead of the game against Real Sociedad, Ronald Koeman was asked to comment on Leo Messi being only one goal away from equalling Pele’s record for most goals scored fro a single club.
“The numbers are impressive. I don’t know how many hat-tricks he’s scored… once again, it’s incredible everything he had done for this club,” Diario Sport quote the coach saying.
“We’re not going to have another player at this club who is so effective, for that reason he’s the No.1. He’s a very important player, as we saw the other day. Our attack depends on Leo.”
Messi has scored 642 goals for Barcelona and he’s currently the player with the second-most goals scored for a single club. Only Pele, who netted 643 goals for Santos, has more.
Leo will have the chance to equal the Brazilian’s record on Wednesday, December 16 as Barca host Real Sociedad at home. Kick-off is at 9:00 pm CET.
