The ex-Inter midfielder doesn’t see Messi leaving Barca for Serie A.
If Leo eventually decides to move to Italy, it’ll be Javier Zanetti who convinces his fellow Argentine to join the Nerazzurri, believes Veron.
“I don’t think he [Lionel Messi] can go to Italy. If he will, it is because of Javier Zanetti, who knows him and will try to talk to him, making him feel important again and to explaining the future projects of the club,” former Inter Milan midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron told Stats Perform News.
Zanetti, who shared the Argentina dressing room with Messi for six years, has been Inter’s vice-president since 2014.
The Nerazzurri are believed to be one of the favourites to land Leo on a free transfer in the summer if the 33-year-old decides not to renew his contract with Barcelona.
“At the end of the day, it is purely Messi’s decision. But if Inter want to make an attempt, they have to use seduction and get to his heart to draw him near,” Veron concluded.
