The Red Devils will reportedly prioritize sales in the winter transfer window and could bring in a decent amount of cash if able to sell the unwanted stars.
Jesse Lingard (market value £9m)
There does not seem to be any more need for Jesse Lingard at Man United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not used him much this season at all. Indeed, the Englishman hasn’t featured in a single Premier League game. If he’s ambitious enough, he’ll want to leave the club and play somewhere else to save his career. Lingard’s value currently is quite low, but United could get more than just £9m if they sell him wisely.
The Englishman could have suitors outside England and his experience plays a factor too. He has over 100 PL appearances and contributed 30 goals, so United could use that to their advantage. Lingard could succeed at a club like Sheffield United, who reportedly want him on loan in January. But if the Red Devils are able to turn that to a sale, they could gain a decent £10-20m fee for him.
Phil Jones (market value £5.4m)
Selling Phil Jones will be a challenging task for United because nobody would want to risk signing him for a decent amount. The Englishman hasn’t played a minute of football for United thisterm and is well past his best.
The Red Devils reportedly want £20m to sell him in January, but only a fool would perhaps pay that much. They’d be lucky to get something close to half of that value, but just being able to get Jones off their books for a decent fee would be a triumph for our negotiations team.
Marcos Rojo (market value £5.4m)
Just like Jones, Rojo is also stuck in limbo at United right now. The club will undoubtedly look to sell him off in January and their reported asking price for the Argentine is close to his market value as well!
Sheffield United are interested in signing him on loan, but the Red Devils would definitely propose a sale. Be it Sheffield or any other club looking for a left-footed centre-back, United will look to get £5m-6m to sell him and let him start playing more regularly again.
Sergio Romero (market value £1.8m)
After denying him an exit in the summer transfer window, it’s high time United look to sell Romero in the winter market. He only has 6 more months remaining on his contract and can leave for free in the summer anyhow, so they should look to fast-track his departure and sell him for some money.
The disappointing thing is that due to his lack of appearances this season, Romero’s market value has completely plummeted. The Red Deivls would be lucky to get even £2m for him, but considering they might lose him for nothing next summer, something is definitely better than nothing.
United’s possible earnings after January transfer window: £25m-£35m
