“We’ve tried to see in the matches who are the best attackers to put on the pitch. It’s an important position. For the work that Martin is doing, he deserves to play,” Ronald Koeman told the pre-Ferencvaros presser on Tuesday, as quoted by Barca Blaugranes.
“There are matches in La Liga where we need a No. 9 more than in other matches. We look at the opposition and the players we have available. He’s working well and he deserves to play.”
Despite having few opportunities to prove himself at the start of the season, Martin Braithwaite scored three goals in Barcelona‘s latest wins over Dynamo Kyiv and Osasuna.
The 29-year-old is now expected to start in the Champions League clash with Ferencvaros on Wednesday.
