Arsenal will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the 2020/21 season.
The Gunners, who have already beaten Fulham and West Ham United in the Premier League, are back in action this evening as they face Leicester City in the Carabao Cup away from home.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have also made a fine start to the new campaign and reached the semi-final of the competition last season.
Mikel Arteta has fond memories of the Carabao Cup from his time at Manchester City and plans to name a strong side at the King Power Stadium.
“We are going to take the Carabao Cup seriously, that is for sure,” he told reporters ahead of his side’s third-round clash.
“Obviously with the fixtures we have, the number of games, it is very difficult.
“Maybe not in the first games but when the competition moves a little more forward, how teams – not just ourselves – are going to treat the competition.
“But we have to go day by day, lets see what position we are in for Wednesday to try and put out the strongest possible team to try and win it.”
For this evening’s clash against the Foxes, the Gunners will be without as many as eight first-team players as Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi, Emile Smith Rowe, Calum Chambers, Sokratis, Cedric Soares, Kieran Tierney and Gabriel Martinelli miss out through injury.
However, there could be a couple of debutants on show as William Saliba is available, as is Alex Runarsson following his £1m transfer from Dijon that was confirmed on Monday.
With that in mind, Arteta still has plenty of options to choose from.
