Back when Koeman was appointed at Barca, Font said he would replace the Dutchman with Xavi if elected.
The presidential candidate now claims that what he meant was that the club shouldn’t focus on short-term results.

“What I wanted to stay was that we have gone for a long time working on a project and the moment has come to stop thinking only about short-term results.”

When Koeman was only appointed as Barcelona’s head coach, Font told El Larguero that the Dutchman won’t continue at the club even if he has a good 2020/21 season.

However, he later went back on his word, saying that it will be Xavi who decides what to do with Koeman. As a reminder, Font has Xavi as the cornerstone of his sporting project but not necessarily as the head coach of the first team. The 40-year-old could be appointed as a sporting director while keeping Koeman in charge.
